چکیده
Five analogs of Tilorone hydrochloride demonstrated varying degrees of activity on the following host defense mechanisms: (a) antitumor activity to Ehrlich carcinoma solid tumor and Friend leukemia virus, (b) in vivo antibacterial activity to Staphylococcus aureus, (c) functional activity of the reticuloendothelial system, and (if) enhancement of the 19 S immunological response. Bis(3-diethylaminopropyl)fluoranthene-3,9-dicarboxylate dihydrochloride and 2,7-bis(2-diethylaminoacetyl)fluorene

Mechanism of cellular suppression induced by oral tilorone treatment of mice.
Specific-pathogen-free B6D2 F1 hybrid mice were treated orally with tilorone hydrochloride (100 mg/kg of body weight per day) and infected with sublethal doses of Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella enteritidis, Mycobacterium bovis (BCG Pasteur), or M. tuberculosis Erdman. Daily tilorone treatment inhibited the cell-mediated response to all of the intracellular parasites, and most of the mice su...
متن کاملTilorone hydrochloride: an oral interferon-inducing agent.
Tilorone hydrochloride characteristically induces an unusually delayed and prolonged interferon response not commonly associated with other synthetic inducers. Maximum circulating interferon levels of 8,000 to 10,000 units/ml were detected 12 hr postinoculation and persisted for up to 30 hr after administration of tilorone. The fact that both oral and intraperitoneal injections of tilorone indu...
متن کاملTilorone hydrochloride: lack of correlation between interferon induction and viral protection.
The protection of mice against MM virus infection and the induction of circulating interferon by tilorone hydrochloride were determined. Whereas protection was evident with doses of 0.15 and 1.5 mg/kg, interferon was not detected with doses lower than 150 mg/kg. Protection was apparently not dependent on interferon induction.
متن کاملThe immunomodulatory effects of shark cartilage on the mouse and human immune system
Background: Sharks get cancer rarely. A major difference between these animals and other species is that sharks have a great amount of cartilaginous tissue. Immunomodulatory effects of the cartilage of some species (cow) have been proved. Because the immune system has a major role in the defense of the body against cancer, we studied the effects of shark cartilage on the mouse and human immune...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Effect of short-term Barberry Juice Supplementation on humoral immune response in active girls following exhaustive exercise activity: A randomized double-blind clinical trial
Background: Regarding the physiological and immunological changes of the human body following acute exhaustive activity and the evidence in traditional medicine of the effects of barberry on the strengthening of the immune system, the aim of this study was evaluation of the effect short-term barberry juice supplementation on the response of immunoglobulin A, G, M and cortisol in active girls fo...
